Thanks so much for sharing. I know that there are many that are more than a bit shocked that I write about this shit and put it out there for all to read. But your story is exactly WHY I do. It SO would have helped (a little) to know that it is NOT just me and that this SHIT happens:) Your mention of the “incredibly sexy…pads and pants” reminded me of another post I wrote a while back

I so know how embarrassing this shitty topic can be. I had little warning of needing to GO and less control. Hubby, sugar daddy and I were off to see my mum. A journey of nearly 2 hrs. I had decided in my infinite wisdom, our mega lack of it to go without the incredibly sexy incontinence pads and pants.
Big mistake!!! We were about 3 mins from the service station, but as you’ll have guessed by now didn’t quite make it. Actually we made it to the doorway of the services and all I could do was stop with my back against the wall (I think I knew it was going to be a big “jobby”) and let gravity take over. ????? in a pile so big an elephant would have been proud. At least I didn’t have dirty knickers as don’t wear them, only incontinence ones if think I really must.
Hubby wasn’t best pleased, to say the least.
I got him to get some paper from cafe, picked up what I could, and went to disabled loo.
After nearly clothing it with that I had picked up, we then set about trying to clean me up using toilet paper as that was all there was.
I walked out with my top on and his jacket around my power half.
Quick phone call to mum to ask what size were her biggest clothes and could I use her shower.
Got to hers had a shower then off to lunch with family. Only thing to do after such a shitty time.
And I don’t take DMD’s.

I am laughing so hard after this because I have been in this exact situation. I started taking Tecfidera again recently and I remembered when I was on it before. I thought it was a diet issue previously, but this pain and pressure I am in right now and reading this story reminded me otherwise. I approach it with the same humor. Thank you!

Hi Fran,
I actually got so severely “backed-up” and couldn’t find anything to help with it, so after about 9 months I stopped taking Tecfidera. Although at that time the people I spoke with at the nurse’s help line for the medication said that they had not heard of other patients experiencing constipation as a side-effect, I can certainly say that through the blog and various MS support groups I am on, it’s NOT just you and me. So even though I never found a solution (other than stopping) I know that some have.
Since I am currently experiencing the same issues from another medicine, I am once again in search of what will take the shit out of my life. You mention being nervous about laxatives and believe me I completely GET that. The idea that it “could” take a few hours, or a day, or even a few days…and then when it does “work” not knowing whether it is going to be explosive or just a bit makes it extremely risky:) I have asked other MSers what they have tried, and as for the more natural options, I have tried most (as you said tons of water, I eat TONS of veggies and fruits, fiber products, just about any probiotic product out there, miralax, prunes, prune juice, bran products etc) BUT there is one that has been suggested a few times that I have decided to give a shot. Magnesium – natural product in vitamin section and although I have been given a few different dosage suggestions I just started with 500mg. Like literally JUST started – SO I can’t give you a recommendation….YET. But I would be more than happy to get back to you on that in a day or two. And if any other things come up in suggestions, I will definetely let you know.

Thank u for sharing this! Love your sense if humor! ?. I wanted to know if u have any more info about constipation with Tecfidera… I am on Tecfidera and have been very constipated. I’m lucky if I go once a week. I’m nervous about laxatives. I do drink,lots of water take vitamins and eat good, tired of being “full of shit”lol. Thank u in Advance ☺

In reply to Kris. Kris, The part of the story that I left out was Spanky's involvement in the whole thing (my American bulldog). Lets JUSY say that some dogs like to eat shit. Spanky has NEVER been THAT dog UNTIL that night and MY shit! Ugh!
